Facebook in Real Life

What a wonderful world social networking really is. We can hide behind whatever we want and the ways we connect is just growing by the day. Weird ways to connect just doesn’t seem to affect us at all. For example…Facebook’s “Poke”. What is that about?? I mean, alright you want someones attention and therefor poke them. But would you really do that in reality? Maybe if you knew the person really well but not if you don’t, right? Sometimes it feels like we’re inventing new ways to connect because otherwise we wouldn’t dear to.

For example, the new video commenting feature we have here at Bit Rebels now. Why are people so scared to use it? Well, it seems we like to hide behind our screen name and we pretty much do anything to keep it that way. So, the question really is if we will ever be able to evolve the way social networking is set up today. Social media today is all about connecting by text…really it is.
But, and that’s a big but…and not the one you might think of. What if Facebook’s features was for real. What if we actually did what we can do on Facebook without being embarrassed by the consequences. Well, that day will never come as we are all different and it will take a loooong time for it to change and for people to start thinking of it as the norm. However, if we could fast forward into the future where things really would be all about connecting through video commenting and/or even live through a short message service through video. What would it be like?

Until someone really put some braincells into this I guess we will just have to imagine it. But, there is someone who tried to visualize it and that’s “Idiots of Ants“. This is how Facebook would be in real life. Is this how we want it to be? I guess not…then why are we inventing features like “Poke” for example. Ha Ha. Enjoy!

Time to Change you're IP add

There is no longer a question mark on whether we can change IP or not. We can. Anyone who is Internet savvy knows that one of the main courses in protecting yourself from internet fraud and cyber crimes is by hiding or changing your IP address. For us to change IP addresses is actually expected by the Internet community. Thus the real question here, nowadays, is if you have made the move to change IP or not.

People new to having Internet services have concerns about the moral aspect of hiding or changing IP. This is absolutely normal. Hiding or changing your IP is just like hiding or protecting your personal belongings from other people. It’s like hiding your savings in a safe, or keeping your credit card information to yourself. If the idea of a publicly accessible IP address does not sit well with you, then it is perfectly natural for you to hide or change your IP address.

We all know how society can abuse the power of the Internet. Crimes like identity theft or hacked accounts are still running around. We become easy targets for hackers and cyber thieves once our IP is out and our Internet behavior is established. Other bad scenarios would be finding that you could no longer boot your computer, or finding that a hacker sends his regards with a lot of computer viruses. With the possibility that these unfortunate things could happen to us, we naturally equip ourselves with Internet security, one of which is to change our IP.

Another problem with not hiding or changing your IP concerns the cookies that are placed in the web pages that you visit. A strong advantage of cookies is that they cut the loading time of the pages you frequently visit and remember your username and password so you don’t have to type them again every time you log into the website. However, these cookies are also the tools that pass your information and Internet activities across the Web. Your information, like your email address and location, ends up getting tracked and vulnerable to hackers.

We see now just how important hiding and changing our IP is crucial, especially with the amount of cyber crimes going around these days. Our IP address serves as our identification code online, and it should be protected just like every other personal information we possess.

In changing your IP address, try turning off your modem for five minutes. If it does not work initially, repeat the process for 8 hours instead of 5 minutes. In most cases this will change your IP. When this does not work then it is time to try other methods. If the alternative methods still do not work, then it is best to ask your Internet service provider for assistance.

There are many ways to change our IP. The correct method to use would all depend on your specific situation. If your computer is directly connected to a modem, for example, more or less there are two ways to change your IP. If you are connected to a network with a router, another method can be used to change IP. You can also look for IP Changer programs online. Whichever method and however you want to do it, there are a lot of alternatives on how to change IP.

How to Avoid Rapidshare and Megaupload Download Limits and Wait Times

Rapidshare is one of the most frustrating websites to download large files off of, especially if they are broken into many pieces while Megaupload positively shines in comparison. So why do people keep using these two services when more generous file hosts like Mediafire exist?

I can only guess that it’s simply because so many other people are using them. In order to get free premium Rapidshare accounts, which let you download unlimited amounts of files, users upload their own files onto Rapidshare, hoping enough people download them in turn so that the uploaders can earn enough premium points to qualify for a free account.

But it doesn’t have to be that complicated. You can get unlimited Rapidshare downloads more simply.

What you are going to do is request a new IP address from your ISP. This is assuming that you do not subscribe to an Internet service with fixed IP addresses.

First, figure out what your current IP address is by going to IP Chicken. Write down the series of numbers that are displayed. This is your current IP address.

Then, follow the steps below to get a new IP:

1. Go to Start->Run and type in “cmd” without quotes to bring up the command prompt. Hit Enter.

2. Type in “ipconfig /flushdns” without quotes and hit Enter.

3. Type in “ipconfig /release” without quotes and hit Enter.

4. Type in “ipconfig /renew” without quotes and hit Enter. You should now have a new IP address. Check your IP address at IP Chicken again and compare it to the one you got earlier.

5. Now, erase your browser’s cache and cookies.

6. Try downloading the Rapidshare or Megaupload file again.

How To Access Blocked Web Sites

Proxy websites allows us to bypass our current ISP’s IP and connect to targeted website with a different IP; thus hiding our actual origin from detectable. Internet users useproxy websites for various reasons, some to access websites potentially blocked by their colleges or workplace, some use it to test their scripts. I frequently used them to test geo-location ads or to check if DNS are properly propagated when I adjust their settings.
I’ve decided to bring this entry back from archive to front page after receiving tones of emails asking for alternative proxies. Instead of the previous 2proxy websites, here’s my personal collection on proxy websites. Full list after jump.
